Below are some general buckets of services that Darren offers, but of course students’ needs often span multiple focus areas. All engagements are customized to the needs of each individual student.
Educational Therapy
Right for: Students diagnosed with learning differences; students who are struggling with the process of learning across classes; students who have struggled with a single subject area over time.
Executive Functioning
Right for: Students who might understand the subject material, but struggle to create goals for themselves, conduct long-term planning, maintain a personal sense of organization, understand when it’s helpful to take notes, etc.
Math / Science
Right for: Students struggling with subject matter expertise or students with skill gaps in math/science.
Darren has worked with students in all types of math competencies and classes, from foundational skills to higher level concepts. He has taught or worked in each of the following classes:
Math: Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus (AB and BC), Statistics
Science: Life Science, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Astronomy
Humanities
Right for: Students struggling with subject matter expertise or students with skill gaps in reading/writing.
Darren works with students to understand how to approach different types of writing, specializing in the argumentative essay. This type of essay is a great way to practice the lifelong skill of structuring your thoughts into meaningful communications.
Darren also works with students on reading comprehension particularly for standardized test preparation.
